Bitterroot Sunset, Corvallis, Montana, September 2001

Once again, we have moved. We sold the Missoula house the day we
listed it, and soon found ourselves homeless, camped in a single-wide
rental trailer in a farmyard in Corvallis, Montana. View wasn't bad,
but trailer life didn't agree with the cats, either. |

After looking at a number of houses and having one deal fall
through at the appraisal, we decided to buy the house we liked best
and get rid of enough belongings to fit into it. Our new home is in
Hamilton, Montana, county seat of Ravalli County, in the heart of the
Bitterroot River Valley. The valley is defined by the Sapphire
Mountains to the east and the Bitterroot Mountains to the west.
Hamilton was founded by Marcus Daly, Montana's leading copper king,
who chose the location for his summer home away from the mines of
Anaconda. |

Our new house was built in 1915 a few blocks west of the Ravalli
County Court House and just south of Hamilton's Main Street. The
Bitterroot River is two blocks west. Like many farmhouse-style homes,
the front door enters the kitchen, while the living room door is on
the side of the house. |
